Can a 2.1 android phone update to a 2.3 android version?

I have a T Mobile Pulse Mini (android version 2.1) and I saw that there is an update available for 2.3. Can i update my android to 2.3? Is it free? What will I lose/gain? What is an SDK? By the way, it says on my phone Firmware version 2.1 update. Please answer!|||1) There's 2.3 but it is NOT out on your phone yet.

2) SDK is for people making apps. it's not for you.

Dig a well before you are thirsty; make friends now!|||1)you can upgrade to Gingerbread 2.3 OS from Eclair 2.1 OS... Its always free!!!! However, Gingerbread 2.3 OS has not been released for ANYONE yet... only the Gingerbread SDK was released... However... you wont be getting 2.3 soon (see bad news below)....

2) SDK stands for Software Development Kit. Google releases the SDK version for the next upgrade, in this case Gingerbread 2.3 OS, 1-2 months before they release the OS upgrade... In this case, dont expect to see Gingerbread 2.3 OS upgrades before 1/1/2011 cuase SDK was just released last week!!!!!!!

why is SDK first??????? If you a techno wiz that can write pure coded Linux in android in source code... and sell apps on the market... you will need the SDK version so you can 1) update your current apps on the market so they work with the new OS and 2) make new apps for the OS...

3) your firmware is 2.1... that means your OS is Eclair 2.1 Andriod OS

***the bad news****------Just to clarify dude.... you cant upgrade to Gingerbread 2.3 OS until it says you can... and trust me dude... trust the droid master!!!!------------ Pulse Mini's aint on the top of the upgrade list cause... well for starters... you still havent gotten Froyo 2.2 OS update yet! LMAO!! When we all have 2.3 on our droids... you might just get 2.2...

dont feel bad... some people in Europe are jsut now getting Donut... some are now getting Eclair...

Good luck... be patient... and keep praying... You could have Gingerbread 2.3... by 2012 or 2013... :-)|||The way Android updates phones is that certain ones get it sooner than later %26amp; some may not get it at all. If your phone is one to get it then you'll know soon enough.

Not sure about the benefits. Check the Wikipedia article or Android's official site about that.

A SDK is a software development kit. Unless you are making Android apps this does not concern you.
